Five months and counting...

Five months and counting... The semester is almost over, and summer is right around the corner!
Its official, Bryon has only two weeks left of classes in his first semester and then summer/Christmas break!

Our journey here has been a bit different than we expected, first of all, finding a job has been the biggest struggle we have had since we came here! I have had such a hard time finding any type of employment... Before we even left, I told myself that I was just going to look for whatever job I could find, instead of focusing on my profession. So when we got here somehow that changed, I ended up looking, mainly, for salon jobs right away, which I think was because I realized that I was not going to have to go back to school and they would (somewhat) acknowledge my qualifications. This I found very quickly to be true with some employers but not with most. I believe what happened was most salon owners didn't understand how to accept my qualifications from the states, the reason for this, is because they go to school (one day a week) for at least 3 years, while they are also doing an apprenticeship at a salon. whereas in the states I went to school full time for just one year and then graduated and tested out and got my licence! This became a concept that most salons didn't understand. But thankfully, there were a select few that gave me a chance, they looked passed my "one year of schooling" and let me show them what I'm capable of  instead of just looking at my transcript and judging me by my "one year" of school. One of those salons was the one I mentioned in my last post called LaBionda, I worked at this salon one day a week for about 2 months, the manager was waiting on one of his other employees to decide if she was going leave or not and all he could offer me was Saturdays. Finally one day I asked him when I should come in the next day, and he told me that he no longer had the hours for me and I needed to move on. :(  So I went back to the drawing board... again.By the grace of God while I was working there one of my friends told me about an opeaning at the cafe that she worked at, called Brothers, (pictured above). I started working there a few days a week, which in turn turned into about 3 or 4 days a week! Then God blessed me with another salon job called Wakht (its and acranim for washed away kulture hair tribe). I now work at this salon about 2 or 3 days a week, its super laidback and lots of fun to work at, and the best part is they pay really well!! And with both of this great jobs that God has belssed me with, we are finallay seeing an income and making up for what we lost while I didn't have a job! (saving up to come home to visit!!)

Some more exciting news is that we are planning to move out of our house in about a month, we already told the college that we are moving out but we are currently still working through our moving plan and looking for a house, this makes for a stressful time in our planning considering we will be moving out around December 14th. We would appreciate all the prayers we can get, that God will bless us with a house to rent that is not so expensive and with people that we will really enjoy living with!

We have had some fun adventures since the last time I posted...

First of all we went to the beach for the first time with a few friends of ours, it was Royal National Park, and it was a blast! There were rock to climb (which Bryon loved!), and a beautiful beach to play on(which I loved :))!

The next thing we did was went camping and hiking, this campground was about an hour away from where we live. On the second day there we drove out about 15 min to the popular hiking spot called Wentworth Falls, which was by far the best hiking we have ever done!

Then one of my friends and I decided that we should have a Halloween party... It was a BLAST!
We made peanut butter ball "eyeballs", Mummy and ghost cupcakes, and a green frozen hand for the punch!

We also carved some awesome pumpkins (Yes we did carve a minion from "Despicable Me)... and baked the seeds!

Bryon and I went very simple this year with our costumes but it was so fun!

Jim and Pam from The Office!!

And last but not least we also, we took the opportunity to celebrate Bryon's birthday with all our friends!

Thanks for following!
We love and miss you all
