life as Aussies!

Two and a half months as an Aussie...
That's right we have been here, in beautiful Sydney Australia, for a almost three months!

Sorry It has been so long since my last post, things are just becoming normal for us here, and life happens! which is good, but we have a lot less time than we used to! But thank you for your patients!

Bryon is about half of the way through the first semester of his first year at Hillsong Leadership College, and he is absolutely loving it! The way that they do school and Church is so different than what we are used to back home. Basically, Bryon has several classes spread out, thought the week. He goes to large lecture classes, and some smaller "core" classes. He also has chapel three days a week, this is basically a Church service for college students, led by the college students! I have been several times to chapel with him and it is amazing! I have also been a few times to some of the lecture classes with him! It was really weird going to class at first because I kind of felt like I was doing something wrong, lol, but then I realized that they don't care at all for non-college spouses to attend certain classes, they really want married couples to both get the same experience. He has also been preparing for his performance (pictured on right) where he sang Keith Urban's "Days Go By". He did a great job, now he is excited about getting into the worship songs, and the second half of the semester!

The church itself has been amazing! Sunday worship (pictured on left) is very contemporary as far as... well Everything goes! They have a small (mostly student choir) in the background and a full band, also about 4 to 6 singers right up front. Every service makes you feel like you are in a Hillsong concert!

There has been a lot of fun things that the Church has done recently. The first thing was what they called, Sunday Night Live (pictured below, although this is a picture of just the worship portion, which is basically what every Sunday night looks like!), it was every Sunday night in the month of August. So the normal Sunday nights are pretty much the same as Sunday morning.  But Sunday Night Live is much, much different than that. Its a very interactive and theatrical version of Sunday night, they have one of the pastors with an actual message but they Incorporated dancing, singing, and acting,  and it all had a biblical message to it, it was amazing! They do this mainly to bring people in, if people think its not a "normal Church service" they are more apt to come. The second thing they have done is the Relationship seminar, this was held a few weeks ago and there guest speaker was a couple from Texas that pastured a Church there. It was just one night but it was a two hour seminar and it was very good!

We finally met alot of great new friends, we are apart of two connect groups, the first one we were apart of has about 10 couples in it, and  the other one we joined just a week ago with about 5 in it, this one just started so they are still trying to grow! we meet every Tuesday night at someone house, and alternate connect groups! Its amazing how much better things can be when you have a great group of friends that you know are going to support and pray for you through your journey, because they are also on the same journey!

Thankfully, I have two job prospects at the moment, one of which is this salon called La Bionada, its really nice and it has the most friendly workers that I have found at any salon so far! so right now I'm just working there on Saturday, I think they will have more hours for me later but I just have to be patient and wait for them. The second place that I am working at is a small cafe down the road called Truffles, I had a trial two weeks and I think the owner really liked me, he was introducing me as his "new employee" which, I think, is a pretty good start!  :) He also put me on a shift for this past Monday! And he told me he was going to give me two shifts next week, so that's very exciting!

Thank you all for following us, and sorry again for the delay in posting... ill try to not wait two months until another post :)
we love you all and wish you were here to enjoy it with us!

Keep following,
Bryon and Shelby
